History
Uhuru means freedom in Kiswahili. UHURU magazine was created at Kent State University in 1990 as a publication of Black United Students. The magazine's mission is to free the minds of black students at Kent State University from mental enslavery. Here on the blog, we want to open your eyes to issues, provide knowledge, and keep you updated with what's going on in the black communities of the northeast Ohio area.

UHURU T-SHIRT CONTEST
Put your name out there.
Create the next design to go on Uhuru’s fall T-shirt and sign your name on it*
Guidelines
1. Your file must be sent as a PDF to kentuhuru@gmail.com. Include your complete name, e-mail and phone number in the body of the e-mail.
2. Use either one or two colors in your design. Keep in mind it will be printed on a white T-shirt.
3. We are looking for good design so avoid using too many words. It is cliche but a picture is worth more than a thousand words. Also, make sure to use appropriate language and images.
4. Be creative with your design and be certain you are representing Uhuru and the people who read it.
5. Pay attention on the deadlines. You have until 11:59 October 15 to submit your design. The winner will be announced on October 18, 2010.
* The winner designer will get his or her name on the T-shirt and a $50 gift card of choice.
**The winner design will be owned by UHURU to be used on any its products and website.
*** Sending your design to UHURU means you understand and agree with these rules and guidelines.
